Community Facility Enhancement Program

Community Facility Enhancement Program (CFEP) funding provides financial assistance to acquire, build, purchase, repair, renovate, upgrade or expand sports, recreational, cultural or other related public-use community facilities.

CFEP aims to foster healthy, vibrant communities across Alberta. The program has been designed to support organizations as they take action to contribute and create opportunities for Albertans to engage with their communities.

CFEP outcomes are to:

  • Enhance the lifespan and support the creation of public-use community facilities.
  • Stimulate economic activity across the province.

CFEP Program Overview

CFEP has two funding streams: Small Funding Stream and Large Funding Stream. Characteristics of these two funding streams are explained in the table below.

Final CFEP Accountability Report
  • A CFEP Accountability Report does not need to be completed by an accountant.

Reporting Requirements
  • A Project Summary Report;
  • Financial statement for the project prepared through a review engagement; and
  • Review Engagement Report prepared by a certified public accountant licensed to practice in Alberta.

An organization can only submit one application for a capital project per year through either CFEP or the Community Initiatives Program (CIP) Project-Based for capital funding requests. Organizations should apply under the specific program stream that is best suited for their project.
